Protect your heart

Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.                                     Proverbs 4:23 This verse is very special to my heart. There is a deep sense of knowing that comes with it. When you know what you have given your heart to and who has hurt you. In love and in life I used to give my heart out so easily. I think it is a natural human thing, especially when you are young and your trust is bigger than the ocean.  Until i wanted to understand this verse a little more, so I dug deeper. I dug deeper into my thoughts and wondered what are the real treasures of life. These treasures i thought of are love, hope faith, trust, joy and all of these amazing intangible feelings and where do all of these come from? They come from the heart. When we do things we do it with our hearts no matter what our intention is we have to put our hearts into it.  Th...

Enzymatic vs. Granular Exfoliation

What is the difference? Don't they both do the same job? Is Enzymatic even effective?  Enzymatic exfoliators and Granular exfoliators are both know for the same job: to get rid of dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. But, what is the difference and which one is most suitable for my skin? Enzymatic exfoliators are exfoliators without the abrasive kernels in it that brush down on the dead cells on your skin. Except these exfoliators contain enzymes which break down bonds between the dead cells on the surface of the skin which removes dead skins cells faster. Enzymes include bromelain from the pineapple and papain from a papaya. You can use this exfoliator if your skin is more sensitive and you want something less harsh compared to a peel or even a granular exfoliator. One can also use this exfoliator if you experience breakout which is perfect and won't aggravate the skin. Now what is a granular exfoliator? Granular exfoliators are mechanical exfoliators that buff the skin...

Benefits of Coffee

For all the coffee lovers here are a few benefits of coffee. These are some of the benefits that I have experienced and researched as well. Disclaimer: Coffee is healthy in moderation and it can have negative effects too if you over drink it. This is true with anything and a healthy balance and lifestyle is the goal. With that being said, stick to 3-5 cups of coffee a day and try and space it out. Another tip is to use filter coffee. I know this is expensive but if you stick to 3 cups a day instead of 8 it will take you a long way and you will experience the benefits. It helps you to have bowel movement Having your cup of coffee first thing in the morning ( filter ) helps you to go to the bathroom and remove wastes so you can start your day well and feeling lighter. This helps if you experience constipation often and need something to h...

Simple Tips for healthy skin: during lockdown

We all have a little more time on our hands now that we have to stay home all day every day. Among the many different chores and work we have to do, here are a few tips if you are a girl and want to make your skin a priority.  Put your phone on speaker  When you are at home and doing those catch ups with your family or in the middle of taking business calls you can be exposing your skin to the dirt that gets carried on your phone. Our phones lay all over the house and the germs collected on it can transfer to your skin during a phone call and clog your pores with dirt and junk without you even realizing it. Over time you start getting blackheads on the side of your face and wonder where they came from. You can use your speaker and avoid those germs which might make it a little tougher to get clear skin  Don't Forget to wash your makeup off before you go to bed!   Makeup? during quarantine? Yes, we see you doing those tik toks. ;) Just kidding but if you are like me a...

Corona Virus: Awareness Pandemic

Have you noticed how the awareness of people and various topics have been escalated lately during this Covid-19 Virus? There is nothing wrong with it. I am all for awareness. But, I was scrolling through my Instagram feed today and noticed a story by Dr Ade' van Heerden and it was about the awareness of doctors mental health. Again, there is nothing wrong with this. This can be perceived in many different ways and as a reflector, I know because we tend to think of every angle of a situation and consider every outcome. One thing really stood out to me though. When do the awareness programs of so many different things stop before we realize that we are all equal? We all deserve the same treatment. No one is better than anyone and no one is less than anyone. We are all human. I felt triggered to write this because of all of the stuff that is happening in the world and I was watching the videos of George Floyd's cruel death. It is sad.. and I did not really think that my opinion ma...

What is Reflexology

Reflexology A Image of the reflexes on the foot that represent organs/areas in the body. 'Reflexology is a gentle and non-invasive therapy that encourages the body to balance and heal itself. ' ( Hull,2017) In this treatment the therapist uses her hands to apply pressure to specific areas on the hands or feet - reflexes - which reflect organs and areas inside the body to relieve pain or congestion in the area. It is such a relaxing treatment and is so different from the others. This gives your body the opportunity to do what it does best and that is to heal itself. Oh, how beautiful our bodies are made and how exciting it is to learn about it. Reflexology aims to bring balance to the body which allows the body to heal. This balance is called homeostasis and when the body is out of balance, disease happens. Is it painful? Reflexology is not painful, however when pressure is applied to a specific area that has problems it can be sensitive or uncomfortable.  Is this bad?  No, thi...

My top 10 favorite Quotes

I love staying positive and reading lovely quotes to help keep me on track. These are my top 10 favorite quotes: #1 "If you can dream it, you can do it" - Walt Disney I am absolutely obsessed with Disney and everything to do with Disney. This is such a happy and motivational quote that makes you want to believe in yourself. #2  "Elegance is the only beauty which never fades" - Audrey Hepburn This is a lovely reminder that how you look is not everything. How you act is really what matters <3         #3  "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind" - Dr. Seuss This is such a beautiful quote by Dr Seuss which reminds me to stay true to myself because quite often, us humans care too much about what others think and not so much about what we think. #4  "If you love a flower, don't pick it up. Because if you pick it up it dies and it ceases to be what you love. So if...
