What is Somatology?

Somatology is the study of the body and its functions. We can use our background knowledge to treat our clients holistically, mind, body and soul through different treatments( from facials to body care treatments) focusing on in salon treatment, home care advice on exercise, nutrition and products!  We are not able to cure any diseases but we can work alongside doctors to help treat our clients in the best way possible. We are not only concerned with what goes on inside the body but can provide you with superficial treatments as such as make-up, waxing, manicures and pedicures. The subjects I study include Anatomy and Physiology, Nutrition as well as treatment and therapies such as Aromatherapy and Reflexology( which I LOVE). It is very exciting and always keeps me on my toes.

However, at the moment I am studying from home due to the lock-down in South Africa. We would normally go into class all week and have practical classes for three out of  five days. We practice on each other as students so we get to do the treatment and experience the treatment for ourselves as well, which is really cool. This way we can come to the conclusion which treatments we like best. I am privileged to say that I study at Isa Carstens Academy in Lynnwood, Pretoria and can't wait to go back.

Benefits of Coffee

For all the coffee lovers here are a few benefits of coffee. These are some of the benefits that I have experienced and researched as well. Disclaimer: Coffee is healthy in moderation and it can have negative effects too if you over drink it. This is true with anything and a healthy balance and lifestyle is the goal. With that being said, stick to 3-5 cups of coffee a day and try and space it out. Another tip is to use filter coffee. I know this is expensive but if you stick to 3 cups a day instead of 8 it will take you a long way and you will experience the benefits. It helps you to have bowel movement Having your cup of coffee first thing in the morning ( filter ) helps you to go to the bathroom and remove wastes so you can start your day well and feeling lighter. This helps if you experience constipation often and need something to h...
